I have spent 5 days at a lovely cottage, Riding Hills Farm, near Hexham in Northumberland exploring Hadrian’s Wall and associated Roman forts It is hard to imagine that these were built in 122AD with the walls being 4 metres tall.

Steve & Carolyn on narrow boat Emmaus stopped to say good bye as the headed off towards the Crick Boat show. We soon headed on our way back to the marina through a couple of lift bridges after a great week in good company.

I have just finished having a wonderful week in Cumbria. I wanted to spend some time walking through the fels (hills) of the Lake District but staying away from the hustle and bustle of the tourist areas. I found a lovely cottage in Troutbeck and booked it for a week.

I have been working my way through my ‘bucket list’ of things I wanted to see and do. After the Norfolk Steam Train Tour I had to go to Weston-Super-Mare to see a company that is adding sound decoders to 18 of my locomotives and using the best soundtracks available.

Melbourne – Perth – Heathrow Aboard the all new Qantas Boeing 787 Dreamliner. I enjoyed the whole flight. It was on time. The food was really good, especially the breakfast as we were getting close to Heathrow.
